Ultrasonic cleaners "homemade info needed"!
Do any of you have an idea where to find info and parts to build an ultrasonic cleaner?
I have been pricing these units and for the size I need they run from 7k up!!!!!
I figure I can build the tank and use a mofdified pool/spa filter to circulate and even heat it, but I seem to be running into difficulty trying to locate the ultrasonic vibrators and frequency generators separately, unless you go through the complete unit manufacturers and then the price is once again skyhigh!
Anyone done this for cleaning finshed machine parts/degreasing?

This is my cylinder head after ultrasonic cleaning. I got my father to do it, he told me he just left it in there for about half an hour.

It was the same colour as the gearbox (greenish overspray tinge) the brown smudges just fingerprints

Now I just need to do the rest!!
I would recommend it, everything comes up brand new, the machined parts come up bright bright silver and the cast stuff comes up like that white/silver above.

Ok so nice that you guys are discussing something totally unrelated, but can anyone point me in the right direction for a piezoelectric vibrator, ultrasonic field generator and etc. to build my own ultrasonic cleaner?

i can make one for under 10 bucks Use the dish washing powder i forget which kind it was... it removes rust so im sure it can clean grease

not even close.
\/\/ No, its an electolysis machine. It converts rust into iron, but won't/can't touch grease.

Ultrasonic cleaners use "ultrasonic" sound waves to agitate the fluid/cleaning solution to penetrate the tiniest areas of an object
It is not electrolysis or any other such nonsense, think of it as putting a tub of water on a 12" bass speaker and cranking up NWA old skool.

lol; no...
a "12" bass speaker" wont make ultrasonic vibrations; it would be more like a 1" titanium or super hard substance tweeter oscilating at around 30-50k hz

You are correct Sir!!!!! Ding ding ding! We have a winner! The 12" was just for "relationship purposes" for the yo yo masses.
I'm looking for between 24 and 40Khz for my application (more agitation than say a circuit board cleaning app.)

"Varsol" requires some sort of either hand washing or machine to clean and I'm looking for hands off, also the machines won't remove the fine particles and blueing acids that I'm generating. The hot tank would possibly work better, but again I'm not sure it would have the same effect that Ultrasonic will. Hot tanks are typically at too high of a temperature for what I need and the parts I'm cleaning have some plastics that may be degraded by the heat.

and search ultrasonic.
They sell LOTS of stuff for semiconductors, and I saw at least one ultrasonic generator for 395 bucks.
They also have SEMs if your interested

Good site, but very limited as far as what I need. An SEM would be overkill for any app I have
As you can see the prices for these things trend toward outrageous!

No fill me in

Ok so i have this little lamp type deal in my room that is pretty much a humidifier. Its a glass bowl with a little ultrasonic device in the bottom, its round with a bronze or brass circle in the middle that apparently vibrates so fast it makes the water turn into mist.(even thru about 2-3 inches of water) Pretty cool actually.Maybe you could buy like 20 of these lamps and just use the little little ultrasonic things out of it.
I don't know if that would work. You have the whole wave interference issue once you start using a bunch of wave generators.
You want one generator and alot of power, not multiples.
