Question: Steering Wheel Alignment
Alright, so I installed the CTR wheel successfully into my EJ8, but its not centered. The wheel is at 10 o clock when going straight down the road. The thing is, when I installed it, I had the wheels pointing completely straight and wound up the cable reel (all the way right, then back 2.5 turns until "UP" was pointing up. I talked to someone about it and he said its cause the steering wheel auto-adjusts. I took a look in my dads car (2002 lx) and noticed the wheel sits at about 2 o clock when parked WITH the wheels straight. So, I know I can take the wheel off and put it back on in that position and probably get it to be straight, but is there a manual or some proper way rather than just guessing?
Here's how you do it. Take out the airbag, and find a nice, flat, empty parking lot. Drive in a straight line. Adjust the wheel. Do it again. Adjust. Do this until it's right. Bolt your wheel down, and install the airbag.
What I've always done is:
- Take the car in and get the wheels aligned properly first
- With the wheels aligned properly, drive the car straight for awhile, gradually slowing down to a stop, without turning the wheels or steering wheel.
- Take the steering wheel off the splines and re-mount it centered.

Depending on where you get your car aligned, you can have the technician align the steering wheel for you as well. I had my wheel adjusted at no extra cost.

Right, im assuming thats for minor adjustments. I think my wheel is off by a notch on the spline. Thanks Eran and the other person for the suggestion. I kinda figured id have to do it this way - just wanted some confirmation.
**EDIT**
Its just interested, cause in order to get it aligned youd need the reel turned to the right abit, although the honda manual says you want it "straight up"
