Default resonator?

I removed my resonator a few minutes ago, (the big black box), but is it meant to be empty? It seems to make very little (if any) difference without it and no sound change. Had it already been removed? What is mean to be inside that box?

Thanks for any info.

Yep. It's supposed to be empty. It works as an (anti)resonance device to reduce engine noise at certain RPM's by the "springyness" of the air inside the box.

sweet as, so I did it right then
Now one more question. Between the airbox and the resonator was of course some rubber piping, but aside from the outlet that connected vertically below to the resonator, there was another outlet (about same diameter) that went out to the right (horizontally) but had nothing attached to it. Should there be someting attached? What is its purpose?

Thanks
