Whats the best spring rate for 92-95 hatch for autoX or HPDE
From experienced racers what is a good combination of spring rate for front and rear? i dont care about ride comfort, and its not a daily driver, and also whats a good tire size, low profile or mid profile?thanks
Well i was gonna do more research on diffrent tire after i found out the type of tires i needed. the car is just my fun car and it will be driven on the street, but i would like to try to get into the autoX and stuff and i am trying to gather all the info so i will know what to buy.
For me ..
I have an EG that I use track and auto-x. I really only drive the car to and from the events.
I have koni yellows and I am running 450fr and 600 rear
So far, I have been very pleased with this setup for the track.
I have only run this setup with Dunlop SP8000 195-55-14
I think I need to look at getting better tires in the 15" range.
This SETUP is NOT good at all for the street... The car is very stiff, and I hit my head often on the roof.

on most cars a matching spring frequency works really well. Since we are trying to defy the laws of physics with ff running a higher rate or 10%-20% higher frequency in the rear is preferred by most
because it helps the car "rotate"
because it helps the car "rotate"

i think u need to try autox first the way your car is before u go in alll "SETUP" and then end up looking like a complete noob

It's probably not what you want to hear, but you need to work on the driver before you start to mess with the car.
Just go out there, have fun, and learn as much as you can. Worry about trying to be competitive later.

Being a Rookie - 5 days / 3 HPDE events and only 1 auto X with my K20 EG cpe NO LSD
I have had good luck with the Omni Powers streets. 10K front 8K rear. (550/460)
Stock EX front sway
I have no front strut bar
Added cheap rear strut bar
Rear GSR sway bar
Natural Camber all around with slight lower ride height. Neg 2 front neg 1.3 rear, 1/16 toe out front and 0 rear.
205/45/16 hankook Ventus RS2 Z212 tires
My car handles very neutral and pushes at corner exit.
The rear end will come around if I trail brake or lay off the throttle a lil bit.
My car could be faster in the corners with more oversteer but I'm not changing anything untill after I cage my car up and see how it handles then. I have a 6pt Autopower cage that I will be installing soon.
My Omnis are almost too much for the street.. .
Even before messing with my spring rates, Im going to replace the RTA bushing and rear bushings then test the car out again. That alone will give the car a different feeling as well and might be just enough for myself have something else to get faster with.. .

I started this thread "Spring Rate VS. Tires" and there is a ton of good information from experience people on this thread.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1746209
When I started the thread, I was worried that going to stiffer springs that Street Tires "RT 615s or Hankook RS2" would comprimise grip. The thread ended up getting into what upgrades and what future suspension I should go with. Some other kid chimmed in and turned it into his thread as well.. .
In summation - go with what has worked for people and stay away from the ridiculous spring rates to start out with (600+) untill you get experience. Once you have gotten fast on street tires and mild rates. Upgrade your Tires and then upgrade your rates.. .
