Have a plan what do you guys think...?
I'm thinking about building a fast little car for as little money as possible. I was thinking under 5,000. Here's the plan; buy a later 80s/ early 90s CRX for under 1,500 grand. Strip everything out of it, headliner, floor liner, all the seats, air compressor, sound system, anything that isn't directly related to performace. Then, buy a used or new turbo, intercooler, and full exhaust. Drop in just one Sparco racing bucket seat, and a sparco wheel, fire extinguisher, and be done with it. No money on cosmetics at all, no rims or anything. Just a simple decently fast car, that's very light. What do you guys think? Can it be done?
welcome to honda-tech! you just mention things you want to do, you could strip everything out but it really wont make much in 1/4 pefermance. If you want to buy a crx and just drop in a turbo look for a multi point engine such as an SI model from 88-91 some. The hf motor on boost and stock tranny wouldnt just be worth it. Also model dx crx with a mutlipoint swap will work. The lightest Crx is an 88hf which is around 18oolbs give or take a few pounds. Before you even buy or mod a car what is your goal in 1/4, track car, or just something quick to move around some mustangs
I'm hoping to do all the installing myself, with the help of my dad and maybe some friends. I'm thinking about a good alll around car. And also, some nice brakes, I'm willing to splurge on some Brembos.
1) you need to pick a car using the searching button and FAQ's will help on the weight and different models specs of each car
2) After you purchase a car you should conisder what direction you want to go. Boost it , juice it, or N/A....it
3) Know this just because you got the best parts dosent mean your going to be the fastest build a car is an art form finding the right parts that will work together is key
-on that note IM going to pm to give you some links and some input its kinda like aim

I would say first learn how to drive. Not just race.
First start out with a nice clean Yugo and work up.
Dont gut a crx cause you want to go fast in a straight line.
More and more are going by the way side cause of **** like this. Let the guys who want to keep a clean crx have them instead of I've got to beat my friends with this car.
