Default Buddy Club Spec II Exhaust

I picked up a Buddy Club Spec II CRX SiR exhaust for my project ReX. I believe this is a high quality product but I won't know what kind of gains it will make until I get it on the dyno. I am a little suprised to discover the exhaust tubing is only 2" diameter, when most of the aftermarket exhausts I see are 2.25", 2.36" or 2.5". I read a lot about these catback exhausts and thought it would be a great match for my B16 CRX. I am going to be running this exhaust with a test pipe (probably Omni Power) and ceramic-coated 4-1 headers.

Does anyone here have experience with the Buddy Club Spec II exhuast for B-Series? Pros, cons? Also do I need to look for headers with 2" output diameter and a 2" test pipe because the rest of the exhaust is 2"? Most of the headers I have looked at have 2.25" or 2.5" output after the collector.

No personal experience with it, but every video I've seen of that exhaust on a honda is VERY VERY LOUD.

If my memory serves me right, CrxWolf had that exhaust on his MINT CRX.

if you're thinking about that thing why not just go custom? the buddy club is only really a straight tube with a small resonator..why pay so much for that?

heres a pic of the thing to so you know what you're getting http://i6.photobucket.com/albu...6.jpg

It really wasn't that expensive. $439 shipped. I got comparable prices for the Tanabe Hyper Medallion exhaust, which was the other one I was looking hard at. Anyway I have the Buddy Club exhaust now. The only problem I foresee is the noise (I really don't need any extra attention from the local law enforcement). I'm hoping the fact that the piping is a little smaller will be offset by the fact that I'm running it with a test pipe. I got the car dyno'd as it sits last week and it ran 147 whp @ 7400RPM. That's with a jury-rigged intake and a leaky catback exhaust. Once I figure out which headers to buy I will dyno it again with the new exhaust and a new hybrid intake.

Any suggestions for where to find ceramic coated 4-1 headers with merged collector?

Yes it'll be loud and if that's an issue don't look at this catback it's kinda that simple.

It also looks non stock even more an issue if you feel the LLE is playing watchman on you.

Header choice is a whole debate on it's on. Sounds like a very healthy gen 1 b16 though.

As for fitting to a header reducers etc will fix that.

I'll deal with the noise if it performs like I'm hoping. As long as it doesn't sound like a two-stroke (also known as the Swarm of Angry Bees exhaust). This is a weekend car that I keep garaged whenever there's half a cloud in the sky, so it's not like I have to dodge police every day trying to get back and forth to work. I want the exhaust to be able to keep up with a pretty aggressive N/A motor build, hence test pipe instead of a cat. But at the same time it doesn't need to flow gobs of exhaust gas because I have no intention of boosting.

Any suggestions welcome with regards to header selection. I have done a lot of research here on Honda-Tech and elsewheres, and even though I am probably 1,000 times better informed now than when I started, it still seems like there are way too many choices. I'm not made of money, but on the other hand this car is my baby and I'm willing to dedicate a lot of my income to it. I am of the opinion that happiness is worth the price, so when it comes to the headers I am not planning on skimping out.

You can build a better exhaust for less esp if you are doing a heavy all motor build.

as for header simple picks that rock for a sane price Rage and edbrock *what I run*.

Any links with information on this? Without access to tube-bending equipment and a good welder is this still a viable option?

depending your Cubes.... oh wow did I just say cubes? I'm getting old.... but size of motor and or radicalness of build 2.5 is probbly best but maybe a 3" setup is better for you.

I put a micrometer to the middle section of the exhaust and I got 50mm for a measurement. Are we talking about the same exhaust?

Nice looking Civ, love the suspension. I'm not sure from that pic if this is the same exhaust though. The muffler (or rather, the straight piece of stainless pipe where the ehxaust ends) looks a little smaller than the one I have, but that could just be perspective.

Now I am questioning myself though. Where on the piping did you measure yours?

It's OK, I have been ordered to driver retraining class three times now so I can take the test blind-folded.

ive got the spec II in my 90 si hatch (d16). its loud. if you have the muffle in, for a while and then take it out and drive it you can feel a noticeable change in horse power. but the PO PO's dont like it too much. the only problem i had with the exaust is that it would burn my bumper because it came out the opposite side so my brother and i modded it come out the left side. its a great exaust though.

This is where I bought mine from. They have a Buddy Club Pro Spec exhaust for a '00 Civic coupe. Not sure if they make a Spec II for that model/year.

just got mine in the today I was a little dissapointed when I saw the tubing was only 2" as well. I'm guessing it had to be designed like this for a reason maybe to compensate for back pressure loss ? ?

anyone know?
