Default torque and horsepower questions

ok.. i have a question

If i tune a Type-R, lets say i put a turbo kit..

question 1..
If i put a turbo kit, do i only gain horsepower? or also torque at the same time?

question 2..
lets say after hardcore tuning, i have 400hp and 150torque..
do i have potential to use all that 400hp with such a small amount of torque?
or do i have to raise the TORQUE to use that full 400 HP?

3. is torque so important?

It depends on the components used.

Horsepower = (Torque*RPM)/5250

You cannot increase torque without increasing HP, and vise versa. It is a mathmatical relationship.

So...

Torque = 130 ft/lbs
RPM = 8k

HP then = 198 and some change.

But the problem with this equation is that torque and HP arn't a linear ratio. So..You can have a higher rpm and have less torque drop...

So using the same motor....

Torque = 110 ft/lbs
RPM = 10k

Hp then = 209 and some change.
