Default b20 w\ b16 tranny

I did searching and came up with both opninions postive and negative. Would a B20b bottom end w\ a b16 head, be a good idea? And if so would it be ok to use the B16 tranny, or would an ls tranny be better??

???

Misconceptions about transmission gearing always puzzle me. Having longer gears is better for boost, B16 trannys suck for ls motors, etc.

A shorter tranny is a shorter tranny regardless of your engine situation.

yes it fits fine just like all other b-series tranny's . and shorter gearing is always the way to go unless you have a big turbo. you will always accelerate faster with shorter gears. why do you think they make 4.9 finals for type r's which already have close gearing

so the tranny i should stick with is the stock b16 one, i was thinking about switching the 5th gear w\ an Ls one so it is longer(for DD purposes), is there any other fabrication work needed to my car, sence i already had a B in there would it jus pop in ?

B16 tranny will be nice, but maybe something will a little taller gears like a GSR tranny would work best. b20vtec.com also has some fun info for b20s etc

it bogs my arpox 200WHP lsvtec down.

LS tranny isn't good for going fast.

Hmm aren't those statements contradictory. My B16 tranny works great on my LS.

I would go with the shortest gearing you can tolerate to drive on the street. You may want to run a b16 1-4 gears, but retain the LS 5th for cruising speeds.

FYI: I drove a b20 w/ ys1 short-gears on the racetrack. It was very nice. Didn't drive it on the highway though.
