Default FG2 vs Lotus, track vid. Guess who won.

FG2 > Lotus...

Bad driver on part of the Lotus or something. Lotus should of ran quicker than 15. Did a search didn't find anything, delete if repost.

One of the H-T members with an 06 Si has the exact same video in his signature.

That Lotus should have smoked the Si. It has a 190hp engine i believe, but a curbweight of just under 2000 lbs. Very bad driver.

The Elise is not a drag car, and the 2ZZ-GE that it uses has so little usable torque that it makes the K20Z3 look like a Cummins diesel. Bring them to a roadcourse and see who wins, even with $15,000 in mods to the Civic.

I've had the opportunity to drive Chris Magerhan's Elise around a variety of autocross courses at the tail end of 2006 and I must say, it is the absolute purest, most surgical vehicle I've ever driven in my 14 years of autocrossing. My first time in one I damn near flattened a cone with the inside wheel because as my neurons were transmitting the message to turn the wheel to my hands, the car was already responding!

F-ing brilliant!

So yeah, let all the Civic homies get their jollies about a drag racing video, but the two cars aren't even comparable.

For the Exige, Lotus only sells it now with the intercooled supercharged 1.8-for 220 crank hp. The Elise still comes with the NA Celica GTS motor-190. I have never driven one, but I went for a ride in one. Its not the fastest thing in the world and its actually slower than its power to weight would have you believe, but its an absolutley unbelieveable car. The Exige handles even better and has more power--just an absurd ride.

There is a local guy with a Supercharged K20 in his Elise.

Very nice vehicle

Youtube is blocked at work but did anyone see the video when Top Gear tries to "lock on" to an Exige from a military chopper

I actually went searching last night for it and passed out on the PC after watching the veyron hit 252mph

I'm glad you liked the video. I am a member on all the forums, and seems like I have had to say the same thing on all of the forums in regards to the lotus. Here is the cliffnotes:

1) 2006 Chrome Orange Lotus Exige owned by my boss.

2) Had the car for under 2 weeks on this event

3) Had never driven car hard as he wanted to break it in properly, this was his second time even getting into VVT-i, and he mis-shifted on that run.

4) Fast forward to August and that exact car ran 14.0's with 1.8 60's and that is still not on par, but better...however he didn't buy the car to drag race, he is a road race/auto x guy, but being he sponsors our local drag strip, he thought he'd give the crowd an 'ohhhh ahhhh'....

Exige = $60k / Si = $21k....drag strip with a good driver would have the lotus on top everytime, however from a roll, my Si with basic bolt-ons pulled on him.

The reason I created the video was never to start a "I beat a Lotus Exige at the track" thread, but rather to further prove a 14.1 with basic bolt on's and no hondata reflash.

I do not know much about 1/4 racing, but the guy in the SI sure looked like he knew what he was doing. The Lotus driver seemed to be taking it easy.

I have never dragged my car, but I would sure like to see what kind of time the car would produce with the mod's I have on. Of course, I would need to find someone who knew how to drag race as well. lol

i would of expected you to put down drag times already. assuming you bought the kid for just that. the s/c is out of the whole torque kinda setup. not top speed like the turbos.

I would happily trade in my Si if there was a chance I could afford the Exige, because there is nothing like a car with a Lotus engineered suspension. It is like sex

My next car, if I have a house, will probably be an Elise or an Exige depending on how much money I'm making by then. And who cares if it's a freking Supra engine, it's tuned and wrapped in an amazing package!

Do us all a favor before you purchase your Elise/Exige. Research it a little. There is not a supra I6 in this car. Its a 1.8 4 cylinder out of the Celica GTS/Corrolla XRS.

That's what I meant It's too freaking early, and this has been a hell of a week. Hell, I know about these cars and have been looking at the website drooling over the Elise for a while now.

And it is a torque less piece of crap that likes to explode cams, when I worked at a Toyota dealership we had SO many problems with these engines it was ridiculous.

Jon

PS: The rumor was that Lotus wanted to used a K20A2 but Honda wouldn't give them approval.
