was wondering if some dynasty owners could help me out, machine doesn't want to weld aluminum on the settings i have now, i can't even start a puddle and the al just turns speckled, it works great on DC just need to adjust the settings for AC, gas flow is good i'm using 3/32 2% th tungsten. thanks in advance.

The thoriated tungsten isn't helping your cause. Use zirconium,if not pure, and if not ceriated. Thoriated is for DC welding.
Do you have the high frequency on full-time?
Check the balance also, the settings could be out of whack and not have enough cleaning phase.

Red tungsten is fine.

Switch over to AC. Grind yourself a fresh tunsten and install the biggest gas cup you have. Clean a piece of 1/8" aluminum and set your machine to 65 amps. Make sure the machine is set to high frequency start. On the AC settings switch, select balance. Set to 60%. Press the same switch again to adjust frequency. Set to around 150-175.

Now try to start an arc and see what happens. If it doesn't work, post up with more details

never seen a dynasty, but if you have it set it to hi frequency continious, not just HF start.

That'd be a good start. Are you sure about the 65 amps, though? Maybe 165 amps? I usually weld .065" AL tubing at 160 amps, but I move my foot a lot.

Maybe your .065 tubing is thicker than mine.

Hey, all he asked for was to start a puddle. 65 amps will keep the tungsten sharp on the dynasty. Obviously going to need more juice than that
