Default Built LS or GSR

i have a 94 ls integra. i have 130k on the car now. Im goin to need to do something with the engine soon. i was wondering what hp i could get out of my ls if i rebuilt it with high compression pistons, maybe bore it out, cams etc. i really dont feel like goin through the hassel of finding and dropping in a gsr engine. anybody have a built ls tell me what u have and how much u have spent on it. any thoughts and comments will help! thanks!!

Instead of boring it out, you can just get a B20 block. For all motor a GSR would be much better, but LS are good for boosting.

if u build ur LS w pistons and stuff ur taking the engine out anywayz mite as well drop a b18c1 in there fresher, and better for all motor building.

build the LS and you will eat a GSR for lunch. If you get some Crower 404's port the head, high compression pistons and tune = FAST

depends how built up the gsr (ex. pistons/cams forget it) but i/e/h you have a chance. I lost by about half a car to a modded GSR(itr cams(not tuned), i/e/h,fuel rail/reg). Alot of it has to do with driver and the difference in the tranny(final drive). The torque on gsr's suck, my friend has 112lbs of torque at the wheel and i have 119lbs
if it wasn't for the tranny he would have lost!!!!!!!!!

ummm... The Torque on the GS-R and the LS/GS/RS is the same. Its just that the LS/GS/RS peak torque hits faster than a GS-R.

the whole point of me just rebuilding my ls is because i dont want to go through the hassel of finding a b20 or gsr engine. if i can rebuild my ls for about the same price as buying a gsr then i figure it would be easier to just build my ls.

ah ic. I can't argue with that. There are different motors out there that produce different power. I guess he got a weak motor and you got a strong one.

Thats true... but a Built GSR will eat a built LS up
these kind of statements can lead to flame wars...

a built lsvtec can eat up a built gsr... but why compare?

build the LS... possibly throw on a vtec head and have it built for LSvtec. youll like that alot better.

i dont know why people open there fat mouths about which one will beat who. ls or gsr? who gives a ****. if you want to become a REAL racer. get out of that 170-220 hp gocart and get into a nascar or a 3.5 sec 1/4 mile funny car. OR BETTER YET, GET A CROTCH ROCKET. none of you in here are racers, just a bunch of fakers. it doesnt matter if the gsr is turboed and the ls is stock. ITS ALL IN THE FREAKIN DRIVER!!!! DRIVER MAKES THE DIFFERENCE, NOT THE MODS!!!!

oh gawd. that was a horrible comment. He's just askin what kind of motor he should get for his car. He never said he wanted to become a fawkin DRAG racer or anything. Just calm down. We all know our cars aren't RACE cars. You say the DRIVER makes everything up... Well thas true, but I gaurantee you a TURBO'D GS-R will eat up a Stock LS, EVEN if the driver sucked. As long as he can floor the car and shift, he won't have a problem beating it. So ummm... the mods DO Make a big difference...

phatintegra,

I found a guy on honda-acura.net that was selling b18b LS swaps for $1500 bucks. I can't find the site anymore since the website is gone but I know he was out of Atlanta. The engines had about 40k miles on it and had compression and leak down tests done. I'd say it was a pretty good deal. If you find him or anyone else knows of a comparable deal or a better one please post or let me know!
