I was planning to buy a new car and I am new to the world of cars and the person that is selling the car I plan to buy says that the car does not have a SOHC, but instead a B16A2. What is SOHC, I have never heard of this or DOHC.? Is the B16A2 a good engine, is it V-Tec? What is the difference? Thanks

 

SOHC is the single over head cam ..DOHC is the dual over head cam ..yes the b16 comes with vtec..just like some but not all SOHC ..and yes in my opinion the b16 is a great engine respinds to bolt ons well..much easier to make hp with than a SOHC ...

 

since you didnt ask for opinion i wont tell you why there are better dohc choices

but b16 is FAR better than any sohc
looks like you're making a good choice

 

B16's are grrrreat! Way better than a SOHC engine.

 

yes, sohc's mean single over head cam and dohc means dual overhead cam. b16's are far superior to single cams but have about teh same torque numbers.
