I have felt a few stage 2's and u need to rev them past the stock limiter to really benifit them, trying to keep the stock limiter

Either one would be good, but the type a's would probably give u more power.

Why did you up the compression, and not upgrade the valve train so you can get cams that will utilize that extra compression ratio? You could have run ctr's or type a's on the stock 10:1 comp.

I melted a piston, so I just replaced them with jdm b16's, I knew ctr cams would work fine with that compression which was my original plan, and it never hurts to go higher compression even on stock cams

i second this

take advantage on the compression ratio and get yourself blox b's
your vtec must start at 5900-6000 and power to 9000
oh and ofcourse, you must upgrade the valvetrain....my compression ratio is also just about 11.5 11.6:1 and bubba told me to ditch the ctr cams

I've ran 12:0:1 compression with ctr cams and made 191whp in another gsr and was happy with that, I just wanted something a tad bit more agressive, so I just purchased sum blox type a's, I wish I had seen urs first (CW_98gsr), thanks on all the opinions though

I had those in my last setup which was a LS/VTEC and traded them for ctr's. the spec 3's did not pull like the ctr's after 7000rpm, but was a good midrange cam like what u are thinking. The spec 3's had a smooth vtec transition though, unlike others that just roast the tires when vtec engage's

are the spec 3's top end still better than the stock GSR's cams?

yes its still better than the stock cams, not sure about a stock motor though, I think any aftermarket cam will not get its full benifit without a little head work and higher compression, if none of that is done, other cams will just move around the powerband and sometimes move it where it is not needed, like I have seen in alot of my customers cars. I wil tell u all one thing, u can never and I mean never, go wrong with ctr cams, even not tune they make power, I'm just being the test dummy for u guys and trying these blox type a cams

i dynoed my b16a with blox type a's (untuned) at 145whp on a mustang dyno, vtec engagement at 5200, and the hp was still climbing at redline (did not peak) and that was a stock b16a, no valvetrain or anything. I have the dyno graph in my FS thread for the cams.

thanks for the response.

can someone explain this to me? besides I/H/CAT/E i'll have done...i plan on the BC3s w/ springs, retainers, probably hondata s200 (and tuned of course)...am i missing something?

this is a DD, and i want a noticable power increase without screwing up my low-end, midrange, and top end. prety much, a little bit better than stock (on top of I/H/E), im not asking for a lot.

hope i dont thread jack this too much, a semi quick answer would be nice. thanks.

Honestly its a waste to buy such a low profile cam, when you can fully upgrade the valvetrain for 500$ and then spend the same money on a cam and get alot more benefits, but if you want stock then I would go with Skunk2 stg1's or CTR's

just put the Blox A's in great midrange and topend, these are better cams than the ctr and $100 cheaper, I would say these are no diffrent than the Skunk2 stage 1's. I guess the original Question has been answered (BLOX A OR CTR) BLOX who ever the hell they are
