Default b16 clicking sound from head?

I've got a clicking sound coming from the head of my b16. The sound is coming from the entire length of the head, not just one area. the clicking does not get any louder when the RPM's are raised, however it is noticeable with the hood shut. any thoughts? and if you would give me a worse case scenario money wise, like a rebuild. Will it harm the head to continue to drive? thanks for the thoughts, I want to be armed with info when i take it to the shop Fri. Would like to know what I'm up against, before i choose a shop.

get new lost motion assemblies and do a valve adjustment. should cure it. get gs-r/type r LMA's or h22 LMA's with a washer. that is where the clicking is coming from

Could it be injector tick?

The stock injectors are actually pretty damn loud.

Once the lost motion assemblies and valve lash are ruled out, injector noise would be my next answer. The stock injectors do indeed tick pretty loud. Nothing can be done about that.

I had a clicking sound in mine. i tried everything adjusted the valves, had someone else adjust them, replaced the LMAs replaced the injectors with ones i had laying around. ran it with no valve cover on it and a stethascope to listen to exactly where it was comming from ( wow that was messy). it would go away for a while and then come back. after it started to smoke i figured out that one of the pistons was slapping the head a tiny bit and tweeking the piston enough to ruin that ring after 10k miles. One of my pistons was mis machined.

so you never know untill you find it sometimes. but start with the cheepest and work up from there. Adjust the valves first.

LMA= lost motion assemblies. springy lifter looking things. they tighten up the rockers for vtec when its not engauged so they arent flopping around when not in use.

theres a picture on this page of them installed in the head
