oil leaking thru exhaust
me n my friend decided to check out my crx today. so i crunk it up...no problems... let it idle for 15 minutes...no problems... test drove it...runs perfect... but we noticed a lil bit of oil, or sum kinda black substance was comin out of my exhaust tip. what could this be? and what is the cure?
there is a lot of carbon in an old exhaust, a byproduct of combustion can sometimes be water, when the hot water(steam) mixes with the carbon it can cool as it leaves the exhaust tip and make a black liquid, it is normal unless its in extreme quantities
i wasnt sure what it was. but it isnt thick like oil and really looks watered down whatever it is. but naw, its very lil that comes out. thanks for the input.
btw... would purchasin a new exhaust eliminate it? and would this cause the high reading of CO on my emissions test?

exhaust has nothing to do with your problem.. you can buy a new one if you want to waste your money. the high CO in your emissions test has ntohing to do with your exhaust.. its your engine. your engine is putting to much CO out which is forming inside your exhaust.

ok...so whats the solution? what could be costin it to have such high CO? 02 sensor maybe?

i really dont know.. im not an expert on engines.. im sure someone on here knows. maybe its o2, could be something els though. maybe your burning tons of oil. and your rings are shot.

I think you have little to worry about. Your engine will always produce some carbon and water. I imagine it may indicate a problem if you produce a lot of it...like say a puddle on the ground after only warming it up.

naw, its like i said... very little... hardly ever makes a puddle, but when it does, its a small one. and yea, it only happens while its warming up.
