Nothing happens when 12volts applied to solenoid. I noticed that I dont feel vtec kick in so I decided to check the solenoid at Idle. When I powered it up there was was no change ( normaly the engine would bog and die). Do vtec solenoids go bad or could it be something else?

 

it should be the solenoid.

 

it may not be the solenoid.
Check if you're oil level is at the right point.
Or you may have the same problem I had.
If your speed censor doesn't work then your vtec wont engage.

take it off and clean it first. But if it doesnt activate after giving power to it, then its likely the culprit.

 

yeah if ur not getting any reading from it then shes shot or the wiring chances are the solenoid.

 

best thing to do is take i off of the motor and test it on a bench. that way you can be sure your giving it 12v and ground

 

If the solenoid is the problem i have an extra. 15$ shipped.
