Only if you use a 88 flywheel/clutch combo. That was the oddball transmission of this generation.

The 88 clutch (input shaft on tranny) uses a 21 spline where as the 89-91s (and on up) use a 20 spline configuration. So you will need an 88 clutch. The flywheel is also smaller (I think by 12mm, 200 vs. 212 in the 89-91). So you're best bet is to get an 88 clutch and flywheel combo like wiZCo said. I think you can us a 89-91 flywheel and pressure plate, but use the 88 disc. I think ACT has a kit for this set up. I'm not 100% sure though.
Good luck, how do you like the Z6?

How so?
How so?
i love the z6 with a 7500 redline it pulls on most things around here like a preppy boys ls last nite just looking for a new tranny solution.
I didn't know the Z6 went to 7500. Sweet ****. I'm putting a y8 head on my d15B with a P28 in my 91 hatch, so that's going to be fun.
Why are you looking for a new tranny? Is your other one bad or grinding? Or is it the ever so gay 4 speed? Anyway, if you good at doing engine work, manual tranny work isn't hard. I've ripped apart a few and have put em back together with no problems. So if you want you could just swap out that 88 input shaft and put in one from a 89-91, that way you won't need to get an 88's clutch.
Just a thought.

i actually have a chipped ecu running crome that enables me to reach those rpms but ne way my car has been making this popping noise in the front end and i haven't been able to figure it out so maybe axles or motor mounts but neither one. so i take it to the guy who always works on my car and he tells me to push the clutch in and slowly let it out i do and when i did you can hear a slight grind/whine coming from the tranny
so now im either looking for an l3 si tranny or swap to hydro and put in a z6 tranny

Who checked... you or your mechanic? I'm still betting on motor mount. Anyways, you can find GM syncromesh at NAPA or lots of other parts stores.

my mechanic he did the whole ebrake and let the clutch out so he could put torque on them and the didn't make the sound and do i just pour this stuff in my tranny with the tranny fluid.
