HELP! Vibration after a gearbox change.
Hi everyone, please excuse any faults I may make since I am french trying to speak English. I came here looking for help.
I own a H22 4th Gen Prelude, which recently happen to have the "no reverse gear" problem. So we managed to mount a second hand gearbox onto it, the reverse came back allright, but after 50Kms Vibrations started in the engine bay, all bolts were double checked, the axles are OK too. Vibrations are present as soon as the car starts to move you can feel the vibrations from your feet, acceleration or decceleration the vibrations are there.
Any clue?
Thanks for your replies.

make sure you have fluid in the tranny and that one of your axles did not pop out a bit.
These are just general ideas.

+1 For checking your axles, you say they are good, but unless you replaced them when you swapped your tranny you really have no idea. Did you check the condition of your transmission mount or your other motor mounts?
First of all thank you for your replies!
Oil check, we filled it back with Honda fluid MTFS3.
We put a new mount at the gearbox mount, maybe that threw the load to the old mounts?
About the axles, when we put the axle driverside back it did make weird noises.(clack clack) But I thnik it's normal.

just make sure they are still clipped all the way in. If they are out slightly it can cause clicking. and vibrations.
I'm thinking possible bent axle.
Pick the front of the car completely off the ground (block the rear wheels), and have someone put the car in gear and let the clutch out. If you have a bent axle, you will be able to see it wobbling around. I've had this problem before, and it's really annoying. I noticed the bent axle by accident

he said it started to happen about 50kms after the swap. so I don't think its bent. plus I have never seen a bent Honda axle.

I'll try the axle bent option too. I'll keep you posted, I don't have much time right now, but I think I'll jack it up this week-end check again all the mounts plus the Axle bent technique. Thanks for all your replies
