This is probably a Noob question but I looked in my manual and found we have a 13.2 gallon tank in the FG. We have 20 bars on our gas gauge (i think). What the hell does each notch represent and does that include the reserve? any help wpuld be great.

I don't think you can just divide up your tank according to the notches, as each "notch" doesn't get the same mileage. For example, the first bar in my car doesn't leave until about 30 miles, and then gets progressively worse from there.

 

yeah i just realized that was a really dumb question

 

Dumb question or not, I wish each tick mark was a certain amount of gas in your tank. Maybe one of these days....maybe.

The only thing I can tell you is that the reserve, once there are 0 notches on the gas guage, is 1 1/2 gallons.... so you have a good ways to go before you run out.

You've got to be careful doing it that way.
I filled up within a few blocks of when the last light/segment went out (zero lit on the gas gauge), and put in 12.2 gal. of premium for a total of 416 miles.

Notice ... that's down to almost just a gallon left!
I've run out of gas in my parking deck at work once when I first got the car last year, running on no segments of the gas gauge to and from work (3 miles) for a couple days.

However, with Mobil 1 and 15K miles on it now I just got over 34 mpg on the highway @~ 70 mph in 6th.
