Default Compliments and the Anti-comp

Just curious what type of compliments you guys have gotten for your Civic.

I've gotten "Nice Civic" and "Cute." (cute with sarcasm) These were from strangers.

People on the streets: "Hey man, cool car, what is it?" (latino orgins)
Guy at the tint shop: "Is that a honda Accord?" (wanted to slap him).
Friend's older sista: "I like your car, it is cute"
Girls at the latino mall.(passing by): nothing just "whistled".
Friend, that owns a mustang: "Why a Honda?" (kicked him in tha n u t s)

The most memorable one was from my gf's friend:

"it's sooooooo round"

I don't know what to think of that one but I did have an EM2 owner ask me like a million questions after telling me my 06 was "very nice"

I think the best compliment I got was an indirect one. This hot chick and her boyfriend got out of some car i didnt notice what it was, and as they walk past mine i hear her say "oooo a new si!" and he had to almost pull her away from it. haha ahhh yeah

Once again, the best compliment I got was an indirect one. My friend really liked my 06' SI and said he was considering buying either a RSX Type-S, a 2007 SI, or a Mazda (I know, I know, but his previous car was a mazdaspeed protege).

Needless to say he wound up buying an 07 SI. It wouldn't have been so bad, but he couldn't find one ANYWHERE on his own (he's computer illiterate). So I did some calling around and found him a Black SI, the color he wanted, at the same dealership I bought my 06 SI. And now we drive around places together

aww thats cute
A lot of old people tend to ask me about the car, they usually say what kind of car is that? I usually make up a name but my favorite is calling it a sledgehammer, taken fron Napolean Dynamite..

Probably the best compliment I've received about my Si is from my friend

"It looks fast just standing still"

And then the runner-up from my other friend after I took him fo a spin

"That was 200% better than I would have ever expected"

That's what I thought when I first drove the damn thing. "This is a CIVIC???"

I get a lot of looks because of my front license plate (I need to get some pics up...#@$@ing snow), which leads into looking at the car. Quite a few nods and grins usually.

But honestly no one has really said anything that I overheard.

I've gotten a few gas station compliments while fueling up... actually a passer-by walked up from the sidewalk and started asking questions about it. Also, i've heard a lot of, "thats the car that I want!", and just the other day holdin a store door open for a couple, they said in passing "we were just admiring your new civic!".

What's the big fuss about "civic" anyway? Don't hear people talkin crap when someone drives an RSX-S, even though it is just an overhyped "civic" with leather interior and a different body design.

Could just be the dramatic change in appearance.... plus the older year civics just look played out IMO.

The big fuss is because I've driven and been driven around in Civics for a long time, and this was a major update to their style and performance as far as I'm concerned. The older LX/EX's don't even come close to the new platforms. It suprised me, and is that so wrong?

I'm not bashing on the older Civics either.

Okay i'm guessing you took it the wrong way. I was referring to why people would bash "civics" to begin with. It's happened to me a couple times. Some domesticated yahoo talkin down even to the new civics...."yeah, but it's still a civic." It gets kind of repetitive......and you never hear anyone bashin the RSX, it's always the "civic" people hate on.

Historically Civics were crap piles. They were economical and cheap and that was about it.

The 88-91's were the first decent step for Civics. The 01-05 I never really liked, they never looked right...and the whole D17 thing drove me nuts. They carried basically the same engine design for 12 years which is really crappy. This is a full body redesign wiht a new engine and a lot of features that even 5 years ago wouldn't have been available on a Civic. It's a really big step...so people that think it's just a Civic have seen them over the years and saw nothing special.

I would have to say these new coupes have a big *** though
