Calfornia Speedway Feb 10-11 Time Attack, TV, Magazines, ETC.
I am passing this along in hope of seeing a lot of Honda–Tech people at the next Redline Time Attack. The event will be held at California Speedway this weekend Feb 10 and 11.
There are some areas set apart for mini-meets and it would be cool to see some of you all out there. There will be many magazines there scouting talent and TV coverage too. The new ESPN show Import Racers will be present. Hasport will be giving out T-shirts to some of the participants of the event and looking for cars for future feature magazine articles.
Hasport will have 4 cars out there for the Time Attack, all of them K20 powered. We will have two K24 powered CRXes, a K24 powered Integra and K20 powered Fit.
One of the great things about the Redline Time Attacks is the Street Class where cars compete without using R compound tires. If you have a fast car and have always wanted to compete in a Time Attack, here’s your chance. Hasport will have two cars in the Street Class, a NA K24 CRX and K20 Fit. Come out and see how you stack up.
For more details here is a copy of the press release from Redline Time Attack. Let’s get a lot of Hondas out there.

If you enjoy the sport and ever want to see it grow pay the $20.... this is how a business works, you can't put on events and charge $0 at the gates.
This is the problem with our industry, people don't want to pay to get in. Race car drivers are entertainers and you pay for entertainment. **** MAN, DON'T MAKE ME HAVE TO EXPLAIN THINGS, expletive.
Anyway I will be there.

NASA and SCCA never charge. Sometimes the track charges $10, but I know that Cali Speedway doesn't. It costs $240 for one day and $470 for both to enter this time attack. This is more than NASA or SCCA charge, and they still need to charge entrance fees?

Settle down *******. If you love to watch Hyper Superfest Time Attck JDM Hotness so much give them $40 at the door. I like to watch racing, not really HPDE time trials, but I would have gone to check it out if it were free. Again, call it what you will, but W2W is racing, this is Solo1 with hyped up image.
If I had a car that could compete with their open street car rules I would participate and gladly pay the entrance fee. I just don't think it's good to charge spectators to watch amateur time trials.
FWIW, I love redline and I've participated in many of their track event and will continue to. I just wont pay to watch amateur racing, ever.

You call me nut sack? well that's ok your girlfriend knows me as dick.
the opening post states what a large event this could potentially turn out to be.. read it again.
It would be great to have some paying spectators to help boost the image and income for this sport in turn making the events a bigger deal than you think they are...

Even in NASCAR and other Pro Series do you think anyone is there Friday for qualifying??? Nope Time trials is no more than a qualifying run. To bring in the crowds you need wheel to wheel battles... or at least thats what you need for me to spend $20 just to watch

Wow, what a way to waste a thread.
While 20$ may seem quite expensive to some of you, it is a real bargain for the casual spectator who wants to come out and see high horsepower cars on the track.
HPDE are amateur events, no doubt, but REDLINE seems to operate a Professional series with very little internal politics and rules so that racers can get out and have fun and people can watch.
Last I checked, SCCA was mainly amateur racing as was NASA and the show can some times be lack luster.
For those of you that have built cars and are bitching the spectator price, shame on you!!! You should be entering as a competitor and show your sponsors how 'professional ' you are as a driver.....are you up to it?

It's not that spending $20 is expensive, it's all relative. Like I stated in the beginning, it's too much to go watch a time trial. A bargain to go watch high powered cars on the track is paying nothing to watch SCCA regional/national races a couple weeks ago. Say what you will about SCCA and NASA being amateur, but they're at least racing, not just watching perpetual qualifying. I don't have a problem with other people paying $20 to watch a time trial. I just don't want to drop $80 (me + wife + 2 kids) on watching it.
If redline can get a bunch of people to show up with $20 in hand more power to them. OK, I'm unsubscribing from this thread now.

yeah ... i saw that article. I thought that was kind of odd for front cover. The 240 was back half with turbo?
