S2000 Supercharger
vortech is supposed to be coming out with one this summer with an intercooler, about the same as the comptech only the intercooler option should add 20-30 hp. JR has no interest is producing one. problem is that they are both paxton style not the roots. so doesn't help with the low end much
Jackson racing developed a prototype but decided to scrap it. I think the two most likely reasons for were: the small market and the difficulty to properly tune fuel and ignition below VTEC/6000rpm.
The Vortec Kit has been vapor-ware for the last year. Rumors and speculation say its release is immenent, and it will put down ~300whp possibly more. It should utilize the same Novi1000 the Comptech kit, but it will arrive with an air-water aftercooler and a more aggressive pulley. Vortec recently purchased the Paxton company, so they may rebadge the Paxton, but they will likely use the same piece. They claim the delay at this time is to complete CARB certification.
The Comptech kit has been out for a year and a half. Its around a 6-8 hour install for 1-2people and provides a bolt-on 270-290whp. This kit utilizes the Paxton Novi 1000. Reliablity is an issue though, the brackets teld to crack or snap in two. (Guess why I am typing a post on this forum instead of driving) Comptech has made incremental design changes to the Supercharger kit , and is developing a dampened bracket system that may finally address the stress/vibration issues. No one has any idea if the Vortec kits will suffer the same fate.
Both the Comptech and Vortec kits are Centrifical superchargers. They incrementally build boost across the engine speed band. In other words, virtually no boost at low RPMs and full boost near redline. If you think its a flawed design, ask yourself this: Who the hell trys racing a S2000 at 2000rpm?

I like the Comptech, it installs nicely, it runs great, and it looks very clean. As far as bracket durability goes I think the newest gen brackets are very durable. Only time will tell. Part of the problem is the weight of the charger and tension of the belt all riding on three very long bolts. See supercharger pics in this forum for pics.
Key word: Mechanic
You may have had the benefit of the Helm's manual too. Besides, I had to try real hard not to drop my cigarette while I was swapping out the fuel pump.

Ummm I don't know about the durability of the latest brackets. I have gone through many iterations of their setup without success. In the very near future though this should all be resolved. Like JP eluded to they will be coming out with a dampened setup that should eliminate most if not all the vibrations. I have driven a SC'd S2K with the dampened setup and it feels awesome. I should be testing one by the end of the week.
The Comptech boys mentioned that the dampened bracket system it was close to completion. Ironically, when my VTEC bracket snapped, all of the vibration went away. Spookier still, the SC whine muted quite a bit too. It seems real funny that the I noticed something was wrong because the car wasn't shaking under accel and the SC whine toned down.
It is interesting that once the bracket breaks all the way through how much better it feels. No vibrations, smooth and quiet. I currently have a cracked ALT bracket and Shad asked if I wanted a replacement until I come up there. I said "No, it feels better with it broken."
