Any decent paint shops around the West LA, LA area? I was quoted 3k for a door and fender!!!
Heres the short...
I have damage to my passenger side door and fender that needs to be replaced. This happened last week and I was just going to pay for it out of pocket so that I could keep my insurance record nice and clean. Through HT I purchsaed a fender and door and thought it would be a quick paint (silver) and fix. I took it to a few shops and have been quoted from 2200-3000k to paint a f'ing door/fender and put them on. One place told me to "cut me a break" they'd charge me 2k even but let me put on my own parts. Most shops are swindlers anyways.
My most promising quote was at Earl Shiebs (*sp) but I'm not sure about their quality. I'm definately not going for show since it's my daily driver but man I wasn't expecting such HIGH estimates. Does anyone know anyshops that are reasonable and don't turn away Honda people so quickly? I could swing 1k but not sure about that shop, I've heard Macco but have never really heard anything about them either.
thanks for any input

Thats an outrageous amount of money just to paint a door and fender...I was quoted that much to have my entire car painted.
Body Shop =

Those shops that quote that much specialize in matching factory paint and mostly are meant for dealership cars where it has to be kept to factory spec especially if a new car has a fender damage. If your going to paint your whole car i'am pretty sure they are body shops that will do a clean job for 2200-3000grand.
anyone have any opinons on the Macco, Earl Shieb style shops? I've been in and out of enough body shops to recognize shady people. The one guy said (about my new door) ..."Well I can paint that if your happy with that type of quality" I said "What are you talking about the door is clean". His reply was "Well I'm a pro...and this looks like it was hit with a machine gun". I'm not sure if I only got the parts painted how off it would look. I'm getting estimates that include color blending etc.
3k was the highest.. My average is about 2200 for just the one side.

are u sure it's only for paint and not frame damage or straightening? that is extremely high high!!!!!!!!!
bring your car to one day paint and body w/ the door and fender already installed and tell them to spray the whole car for $500.

body shop sucks ***... they charge like 35 an hour on labor... for what? unscrewing a bumper and putting it back on..... i was blown off my mind when some idiots insurance sent me a quote on fixing his car i hit, for $3500!!! for a scratched bumper.. the paint was just rubbed off 2inch. scratched rear lip and it was hanging down on one side, easy fix, double side tape that motha back on! and my head knocked the whole side skirt off.... easy fix, rebolt it back.... well all the *** hole needed to do was pretty much repaint 3 parts. side skirt, rear bumper and lip...... the estimated repair was rediculous!
