Default Dfferences between b20b and b20z

i read here that the b20b had 126 hp and the b20z had 143hp

but here on hmotorsonline they are saying the b20b has 143 hp

http://www.hmotorsonline.com/s...it=25

is this a mistake or is there somthing different

I believe that the B20B was '96-'98 and the B20Z was '99-'01.

With what I'm pretty sure (2.4L) is a K24 from '02 on.

Neither were VTEC and the 96-98 B20B was rated at 126bhp while the '99-'01 B20Z was rated at 143bhp.

Hey man, I've been trying to avoid confrontation lately, so right now I'm not one to start pointing fingers 'n ****, but it sure as hell looks that way.

as far as i know there is no such thing as a jdm b20z. they are all jdm b20b's so technically they are not mistaken, if im not.

True, but hmotors is selling '96-'98 B20Bs, so in that year range it should be the lower ratings anyway.

What do you have to do to make a b20 v-tec? Because they are cheap to get.

If their B20B's have 143hp, then they are the JDM 99+ B20B, which is the equivalent of the USDM B20Z.

i think there was big problem a while ago with them rating them as 143hp and selling the 126hp motor. really it just comes down to a gamble if your buying a b20 from an importer because of this. check the head it should be mark with the year it was made.

no, you're better off getting a b20z with the pistons in it already to start with. you won't have to mess with all the work and sourcing the p3f pistons.

lol, if you're going to upgrade pistons, you're spending a 150 dollars either way on rings and pistons- do as the man says and get yourself some compression.

What would the marking be on the head for a 99-00 spec head? I know with the GSR or B16 you can find P72 or PR3 on it somewhere in the casting. I'd just like to know cause I'll be picking one up very quickly.

Thank you in advance.
