I need to know if anyone has any info on the type of motor. I know that it has a D17 but Im not sure if they made different types or if they did if one type is better than the other.

 

Engine codes:

01-05 Civic

EX: D17A2 VTEC
LX, DX: D17A1 Non-VTEC
HX: D17A6 VTEC-E

Best of the 3: the D17A2 found in the EX's. But if you DON'T have an EX, and want VTEC... all you have to do is swap heads.

 

wow dude. search. go to wikipedia and you can read up all about the d17.

giving us your civic year is only part of the info we need... what model? the dx/lx models have a d17a1 (~114HP/non-vtec). ex models have d17a2 (~128HP/vtec).

 

how much hp does the HX: D17A6 VTEC-E

 

Thanks alot for your help I found some info on the d17 but it was just general stuff and I could not find the diff. types but mine is an ex so thanks to yalls vast knowkedge I can figure out what direction im going to go.
