Problem Shifting Into 5th
I own a '94 Acura Integra GS-R, and I have this problem while shifting into, or riding in 5th. I did research on this around the net but could not find much info.
Here's the problem: If I goto shift to 5th, when I let out the clutch the gear will grind slightly and not fully engage. I did find a way around this though, if I goto shift and put it in neutral rev it up to 3500rpm then shift it will be smooth. Also another thing I do to get it into 5th is put the shifter into 5th like anyone would, but then put pressure on the shifter so it's all the way to the left (while still being in 5th gear). Also, when in 5th if i'm coasting and the rpm's drop below 3000 it will slide out of 5th gear.
I noticed this problem a couple months after getting the car.
About a month ago it was extrmely hard to get the car into any gear, while driving and impossible to get it into reverse, but a new clutch fixed those problems... I was hoping at the time it would fix the 5th gear problem, but did nothing.
Thanks for any replies / help in advance.

Your fifth gear synchro is more than likely shot. It happened to third gear in my LS trans. After a while it wouldn't go into gear at all. Finally the trans went out the window. Time for a new trans. Good Luck
check the fill level of you're tranny fluid, if its low 5th will pop out. and try replacing your tranny fluid with synhromesh, royal purple or redline. a friend had the same problem with his type r tranny(popped out of 5th and grind in 3rd and 5th gear) he topped off the tranny cuz the fill level was low but still had the grinds, so he replaced the fluid with with pennzoil synchromesh and hasn't had a problem since. just make sure you replace the crush washers on the drain and fill plug
