Default exhaust

Can I go to a muffler shop and have them custom make larger pipes (2.5 or 2.75) from my cat back to the HFP muffler?

I really like the sound the HFP muffler and I this would only make it sound better and give me more HP.

Kinda like making my own cat-back.

Anyone done this? Thoughts?

yes it can be done. if you search around there is someone who has that set up with 2.5 piping, no resonator, and is using the stock muffler.

sounds very good too. but has potential to blow out the stock muffler with the increased flow. Which will lead to it sounding like crapp

if it costs less than like 125 then I am going to do it.

You think the HFP muffler will blow out?

I'm thinking because of the extra back pressure. If the muffler cant handle it POP look for it in the rear view.

exactly. The increased pipng diamater before the muffler is going to flow more and the stock muffler is going to bottle neck the flow. causing much higher back pressure in the muffler which will wear out the packing faster.

Even with the HFP muffler?

I sure as hell don't want to have to go searching for my muffler after it's "blown" off

The muffler itself won't blow off your car... the internals get "blown out"

here's an example of a "miata" exhaust internals

I believe OBX and Megan both make catback piping that bolts up to the stock muffler. Muffler shops will use crush bend the pipes which is not as efficient as mandrel.

Heres the Megan piping.

2.5 to a skunk 2 muffler shouldnt be a problem with the muffler packing blowing out, as the skunk2 muffler is straight through.

If you're looking for an inexpensive exhaust system, do it safely, and if you want a good exhaust for cheap, go to http://www.hottexhaust.com get the magnaflow for whatever car you have and enter the coupon code fordtruck8 or jetta one of those should work.

The Comptech Exhaust is Nice, But my bud just purchased the Greddy EVO, WOW!
Or Skunk 2's Coming out next month. I think the Comptech Muffler design blows!
Looks like some budget Kragen, Univ Crap peace. Patience, Grasshopper!

Magnaflow has been around for a long time. And I don't believe it's as loud and annoying as the comptech exhaust.

Oh and BabyCry31 did by change attempt entering one of the coupon codes I provided above?

ok so i got the exhaust yesterday

i was so excited, the muffler looks sick, ok so since i didnt have the rite tools to put it on i went to the guy i always do, and he charged me $75 to put it on and tack weld it, i didn't care how much i just wanted it on

so he bolted everything up, tack welded up the clamps. then sent me on my way, the system sounds great

when you first start up the car you get a little growl out of it then it goes pretty much silent. from about 1500 to 2000 you get a nice deep growl, and from about 3000 to 4000 you get a deeper one. it seems to be louder now then when it first did yesterday, ive drive it all day today and from about 5 to 9 yesterday, so ya its getting a work out

can u tell i was excited hahaha

the only think i didn't do is before he installed it, i didn't disconnect the battery, you guys think i should just leave it or disconnect the battery?

o and also i was thinking about having the guy at the muffler shop take out the magnaflow resonator and make me a new pipe so it would go straight through, u guys think thats smart or no?

thanks
