engine and tranny swap.
Hello newbie here. I have a 91 civic with the d15 motor and 5 speed trans. I have bought a 95 d15 motor and I need a tranny to fit it. The stock trans is a cable clutch and the shift linkage is a rod. My trans is bad so I need another one. My question to ya'll is do I use a 88-91 tranny or do I need to get a newer model to fit the newer engine? Thanks Bob
You have to use the 90-91 models with same year clutch.
I can recall but I think your stock clutch will not fit into an 88-89 tranny, unless you get 88-89 clutches.
Try to get one out of SI for shorter gear (pickup faster) and if you like saving gas then the HF will do great.
DX/Cx/LX is in the middle of those 2 ratios.
