squeaky/worn suspension good enough to auto-x?
my car is obviously old and has about 133k miles. mechanically is ok, but Im a bit concerned about the suspension. Im not very learned about suspension yet.
I swapped an axle that was busted, it seems like the left outer tie rod has some play in it, ball joints may be worn.
When I gun it, I hear some clicking from the left front side. And the suspesnsion seems to squeak when its cold, but it seems to lessen or even go away after the car warms up. When the car is stopped and I turn the wheel I hear squeaking sounds.
What would you recommend I do to make it good enough to autoX? The cheapest way possible? I am seeing complete used stock shocks and springs on ebay for 100, so that may be what I'd have to do.
I missed all of last season since I was basically carless and I dont want to miss out this year. But then again at the moment im dead broke and have no job (student).
I just want to drive to improve my skills and have some fun.
93 accord btw.

that tie rod wont pass tech. so your gonna need to replace that. i'd replace the balljoints if they have excessive play.

grab the wheel and shake it hard and see if there is any play.</TD></TR></TABLE>
if you get movement up and down but not left and right you have a bad balljoint (upper and/or lower). if you have movement left and right but not up and down you have a bad tie-rod (inner and or outer) if both you have a bad wheelberring or a combo of everything else.

a loose tie rod make a car unsafe on track and on the public road, period.
I am student too, and when I can't pay for a part as important as balljoints or tie rods, I park the car and wait til I have enough dough.

I will obvious;y fix the most importmant components, i was wondering what the most vital pieces were. If I can fix the ones that need it, and not waste extra on struts and springs if I dont really need to.
