Default Comptech supercharger goes booooooom, any thoughts???

It's a link on 8th civic and has been discussed over the last day, anyone else wish to add their .02. It's on a 2006 Civic SI coupe with a Comptech supercharger.

that sucks, but at the same time... that man must have some money to throw at his car. i mean the supercharger alone is some cash, but then he blows his motor, and now is droppin all that into it to BUILD it. hope it isnt something with teh charger itself. either way, sucks. wish he had a video of it blowing. not hatin, would just be something to watch

so basicly a 10+ page thread with absolutly no conculsive reason as to why his motor blows...

wait 2 days before someone makes a thread titled
"comptech supercharger bad for my car?"

The thread ended up getting closed because it turned into a pointing fingers contest of who's fault it really was. My own personal thought is that i have yet seen a comptech supercharger to cause a engine to blow yet if the installation was done correctly.

i dont totally believe that story. i think that theres more to it than what is said. I agree toatlly with everything that sponsor had to say regarding the S/C and that site.

I think the driver did something.. Comptech has been making the same S/C for the RSX-S and I have not seen anything wrong with them.

But until the guy comes out and says what happend, we will never know..

It makes me a little worried that the OP in that post is a mod there...aren't there standards? The posts that the vendor highlighted indicated a clear bias and I don't think that is appropriate from a mod.

Personally i think the comptech is a good kit.

However just like 80% of performance products, you don't know HOW they are going to be used.. and by who.

This was my big issue with the AJP kit... was that NOONE noticed that the few main "pushers" of the kit... pretty much LIVED.. at AJP.. and any issues could have been swept under the rug, in order to sell the kit..

Where as the comptech got a VERY late start BUT the car was in their hands for months and months to figure it all out.

my .02

and that is true ...

as for u ... i simply call it like i see it ... if there was anything that i said at any particular time that wasn't true to the facts of each kit ... point it out ... simply stating the obvious is not being biased. mod doesn't mean that u can't have an opinion or state facts ... i see it more my responsibility to be true to myself and the people on the site than to cover up and be a mod.

as for the owner... he didn't want to get flamed for the crap so i made the thread to help him out, hopefully get him some answers ... but everyone instead wants to point fingers and talk crap ... i didn't say it wasn caused by comptech nor did i say it was caused by him ... as like everyone else i too want to know what the cause was and i think something is being left out somewhere ....

many things can go wrong ... there's no telling untill we all know more...

comptech has been having problems with its kit for rsx cars. Lots of problems. And by lots i mean LOTS. Ball bearings is a common issue on rsx comptech s/c's.
But they seem to have a good customer support.

ther are not many standards to be a mod. mainly post count and who is on the site the most who can keep things in check.

The Driver must have made a mistake or driving error. Superchargers are generaly one of the 'safer' methods of forced induction.

This thread is just as pointless as the one that was locked on 8thcivic. No one knows that whole story, so why even try to speculate. Hopefully this one get's locked too.

the whole thread seemed very bias towards the mod pointing people away from comptech. this could have been a marketing ploy for them to gain future customers for the AJP turbo kit. either way it was shut down, and thsi one probably will as well

one question though...how is a mis-shift bad for s/c applications?

actually if you don't know what this problem is about then i suggest not to bash any mods from ot her websites
Here's something you should read: http://www.8thcivic.com/forums...27990
On the other hand, the guy who blew the engine should be allowed to talk more about this issue. This story is on the comptech forum.

i wasnt bashing on him, i was simply making an observation. im not alone in my thought on that as well. around the 9th page people were starting to take notice as well. either way, withou info there is no way to know for sure what happened and what caused it.

That's funny, because it seems that no one, including the owner of the car, knows what happened. Obviously he did something stupid to screw up his own car. If he did nothing wrong or idiotic, what is there to be afraid of? He's afraid to be FLAMED on a stupid forum?!!!!! WHO CARES!!!! Admit WTF happened, take the bashing and help others avoid the same situation.

A mis-shift is a mis-shift. N/A, F/I, it doesn't matter. They're both going to over-rev the motor and f!@# it up!! I'm with you and "assuming" that's what happened. But we'll never know until he fess's up.

Again marvie is not biased. In fact, he was one of the first ones to go F/I doing great write-ups, DIY's, and giving information about boosting cars. Most of the people there are merely new to know anything about Marvie's comments.
If you don't know Marvie then dont judge him.

Yep that's one possibility. Another might be an oil leak but we won't know since as he stated before, his engine blew but the kit inspected by comptech hasnt suffered any damage at all.

i didn't know comptech had it's own forum. I've been on their website plenty of times and have never seen one. Is it a public forum and if so what's the address?
