Default Ok, so 102mph in a 50. Anyone got that beat?

My buddy and I decided to take off work yesterday to go for a scenic drive (race) along the southern washington pacifac coastline. We were having a blast, flying past cars in the oncoming lane, pushing the tires to the limit on sharp turns and pushing the speedo even harder on long sweepers, only pausing to take a few pics.

Around Ilwaco, BFE if you ask me, we unintentionally flew past a stater at about 120-125mph. We kept it floored due to our huge momentum advantage. A min later there is a white SUV ahead that I'm closing in on quite fast. I go to pass and as I do I notice "State Patrol" on the door. F**K. He waits for my buddy's 350Z to pass to hit the lights.

Long story shorter, he threatens arresting us for reckless driving and having the cars impounded. He says he clocked me at 102 which is somewhat feasible. After wasting an hour on the side of the road, he lets us off with a regular speeding ticket, not a reckless or even a negligent. $380. SO I guess we were lucky.

I noticed on my ticket he wrote 'Honda Civic 4dr' instead of S2000. Is that enough to get out of it? I'm hiring my trusted lawyer once again. I'm not worried. This is however my buddy's 3rd ticket in 2 months. He's pissed.

No offense, but if your going that fast on public roads, you have NO right to be angry about a ticket.

In fact, you very well should have gotten wreckless driving.

Clean cars tho.

They should of impouned your cars. Speeding or racing on an empty road is one thing, your just risking your own life, but on a two way road 100 plus? Dumbass.

I knew that was coming. Our cars are set up for those speeds and we weren't endagering anyone else. We had plenty of room to pass when we did.

Not bragging, just wanting to share my experience with my fellow enthusiasts.

lololololol...nope. They were in their designated lane while I was passing. In order to pass a slower vehicle, you must use the lane to the left. The faster you pass, the less time you're in the oncoming lane. Perhaps you'll figure it out later.

Projekt, didn't you just brag about this -

"On a stock AP2, I've gotten it sideways downhill on a braking drift. A little countersteer and it came back naturally. This was Ortega (CA74) on a 45mph yellow sign corner at about 75-80."

Point being, if you're not driving the car the way it was intended for, you might as well sell it

I think that should be a clue that he's got a problem.

Personally, I take this stuff to the track and vehicle dynamics area. Whatever you do is your prerogative. Glad you or anyone else didn't get hurt.

I had a NJ Statie tell me he clocked me at well over 120 on the Turn Pike. It was 2AM on a Tuesday Morning, I think I passed one car in an hour and a half. He was a nice guy, I talked to him for awhile. He used to live near me, and his Wife went to a high school near me. I'm a criminal justice major, so I had a lot to BS with him about. 20 minutes later I got a $82 fine, and 0 points. He said he had to give me something, because it took him 6 exits to catch up, I didn't want to tell him I had actually slowed down after I passed him.

These kids will call anything a "race" nowadays. Just for that thinking alone the OP deserves the ticket and any flaming that comes with it.

What is a lawyer going to do? Is he going to say it wasnt you because you dont own a 4 dr civic? You signed the ticket knowing that you broke the law. What if someone pulled out in front of you? Just pay the fine and be grateful you didnt get your license taken away or your buddy since he has so many tickets in a short time.

I'm a former rally-driver and your attitude is the perfect ingredient for an accident. Who cares if you get hurt, its the family with two kids that we're worried about.

nice, 102s not bad, pretty fast actually. ive since sold my s2000, but i had a my00 silverstone with pretty much open toda header and a short list of other mods. i got radar'd here right outside of nashville 128 in a 70 . not much difference in speeds, but i feel the same way you do about control. these other sticklers do to, they just wanna sound safe and logical . i say f that. as a wise man once said, "why stop when you got the speed?"
