Default is it possible to bore out the d17 pistons?

i was wondering if it is possible to bore out the d17 pistons to give it more compression and if that'll help the car. i've heard of people with muscles cars doing this and to some imports. well if it is possible will there be any gains? and what size?

you should search 7thgencivic for "andyman" and "supermex". i think theyve done it to their cars. theyre both in the 300whp+ range though but you probably already know that.

just having bigger cylnders will not raise your compression a dome type pistons will ,making the combustion chamber smaller will thiner head gaskets etc..

You don't bore out the acutal pistons, you bore out the bore of the block. Like em2!kid said it doesn't raise compression you gain displacement.

yea but i know supermex has put in close to 15 grand when he could have gone with a kswap and then boost that. But I still love his numbers and have much respect for him

for the cost of boring ur engine and actually tuning it to run well, u could probably build urself a turbo kit.

Boring it out and putting high compression pistons in with a cam, fuel system, and exhaust/intake might get you 150whp. But it will cost about the same as a turbo and I would say it would be less reliable than a turbo.
