Whats up guys, i have a 1996 civic lx with oem radio, the question i have is, ide like to replace the backlight bulbs from the standard blue color to amber, now i went to the dealer and found the bulb covers that i need but i have to buy the entire bulb at 6 dollars a piece, with 10 or so bulbs total thats alot more than i would liek to spend on just bulb covers. Can anyone tell me where i might be able to get these bulb covers for cheap. heres pics of the teardown. thanks guys much appreciated.
these are the ones i have, ide like to get amber ones from something like a 99-00 si or somthing similar, thanks for the help guys!

I have a 99si radio that I will send you for 30 bucks plus shipping. I cannot GUARANTEE that all the lights work but I CAN guarantee that the amber condoms are on the bulbs since the radio was never taken apart
yeah you are right they are not the same... I am sure they cant be that different on the inside. I can pop it open if you want and send you the bulbs/condoms for about... ehh.... 25 shipped...

let me know if you change your mind. I dont mind cracking it open and sending you just the bulbs or whatever you need. It is just sitting here collecting dust

Really? how long have you been running it like that? im concerned about fading, i wanna do it just once. any pics? thanks!
yes, you can use the amber covers from the bulbs on the climate control (itll be expensive though)
when I did my cd player amber (also took it apart) I just dabbed a weee bit of paint on each bulb and it came out minty and has lasted a while.

so i went ahead and took your suggestions and just painted the bulbs red with a sharpie, it came out really nice, a little bright, but nice, after i buttoned everything up and verified that it worked i went out for a cruise and about an hour into the ride all of the bulbs on the headunit except the display took a crap, im wondering if the current for the bulbs goes through the display first than travels to the other bulbs. if this is true it would explain why only the display lights up and not the rest, meaning that a problem lies in the connection between the display and the board. Has anyone else had this problem? im talking about the rubber connection that just touches the board, maybe just cleaning the terminals with an eraser would do it, or maybe its something else entirely, thanks guys! any help is welcome.
