Default Great taste, less filling OR How can I upgrade my D15B8 without losing (much) MPG?

I just picked up a 95 DX and am enjoying it, but I want to see if there is more I can get....

The basic idea is that I want to do I/H/E + Tune to get the most out of the car without spending serious $$$ and still maintaining what makes the car so great: it's fuel economy. So here's the plan:

AEM v1 Intake w/Bypass valve
Ebay Headers
00 Si Exhaust (or should I go aftermarket?)

What do I need to get the most out of dyno tuning? Apexi SAFC? Or will a tech just bump up the timing and such? What parts do I need to get the most out of this setup?

What else is low-buck for power but is worthwhile and not excessively bad for MPG?

Thanks!

EX/SI tranny is the best and only great upgrade for a single slammer.

Horsepower is made through the release of energy stored in fuel.

If you want more power, be prepared to sacrifice gas mileage.

Yes, yes, I know, but there's a big difference between I/H/E and having a full race-spec engine. I figure helping the car's air flow is a good thing, plus the throttle response is cool.

So, how about this for a plan:

I/H/E
Mini-me VTEC head
Ex/Si Tranny

Would I still be able to "tune" this on a dyno?

Yes, VAFC would work.
