Default Oil pan problem..

Today, I put on a new oil pan gasket from autozone on my b16a. the old one leaks real bad anyway. So i reinstall it with RTV gasket maker on both sides along with the oilpan gasket and tightin it to torque specs. Then i put new oil and oil filter on and then start the car to check any leaks. the ****** still leaks around near the flywheel/ tranny side. Can the oil pan be warped ? and cause it to damn leak oil where the gasket is? or can the rear main seal is gone to bad and leaks oil down to the oil pan and spit the oil on my undercarrage?

in the shop we would pressure wash the pan and the block then start a dye test . but thats at a shop with a hoist and such. try cleaning it as good as you can . and as for your pan being warped or damaged ? check for damage , maybe you bottem'd out on something . hope it's a simple fix !

I would say rear main seal. Mine leaks from there very slowly, and it's definitely the rear main seal. Do you have any big dents in the pan? If you don't then I can't imagine how it would warp.

Pepboys in Socal now sells a phosphoresent[sp?] dye that you can add to the engine oil and it even includes a small led light that will help you visibly see the dye in the leak. Just add to the oil and drive it for a few days then check it out. The kit is like $10 and is usually near the oil additives. The trick is to follow the oil leak up to the highest point its leaking to determine whats leaking. - SA

this is almost the same problem that i have with my pan. i figured out that a stud was striped out on the tranny side right around the rear main seal, causing the pan to leak alot. also make sure you didnt use too much gasket sealer

this is so fustrated. even with small leaks and i get pissed off lol. my dad saying it could be a rear main seal, since back of my fly wheel seems to be very very lil wetness on it. could it be because of crappy gasket ?

if your flywheel has oil on it then it is your rear main seal
Here is a new one from slhondaparts http://slhondaparts.com/browse...1-004

on mine i thought it was the rear main seal, because there was oil all over the inside of the trans where the flywheel is. but after pulling my trans i now know its the gasket
