Wheel Bearing problem
Ok guys so here is the deal. I have a 98' BB6 non-type s and I am having a slightly sevre problem. I believe that the wheel bearing has gone bad on it however can not pin point the which wheel bearing it is. I want to know if anyone has any Idea first off where I can get new wheel bearings from and than secondly I wanted to know if anyone has any of the manuals on how to press a wheel bearing in on a prelude. I work on the FSAE team at my school and I have pressed wheel bearings on hubs for a open wheel race car. I guess I just want to make sure it is about the same and I dont have any manual for my car so I am not about to start stripping it out. If you have any ideas or any comments please leave one. Thanks alot!
Do a google search for the PDF of the Helms manual I downloaded mine in sections from a site. I think if you search this forum you might come up with a link. I would just use OEM berrings, guarenteed to fit. I havent done this on my prelude yet but I would think its pretty straight forward, remove hub, clean old grease, replace berring w/ new grease, check, reassemble, recheck, done.
well if its a rear bearing Honda sells it *** an entire hub unit so you just unbolt it. and put the knew one on. I suppose you can pull it apart and rebuild it or find a part number on the bearing it self. The front is a few different parts.
First find out which wheel. I have had 2 rear wheel bearings go on me in 2 different luds. but never a front. Easiest way to check is to jack the wheel off the ground and grab the wheel and shake up and down or side to side. and see if there is any play.
front #4 and maybe #5
Rear #2
