Not much else to do here in Thunder Bay this time of year..... although I'm "crewing" this year. I've done it off and on for the last 20 years (and I'm only 30-something...)
What are you running? How are plans coming for Gimli?

My shop runs 3 ice cars cars, a EG, EF and a 79 colt. In Alberta Canada in the Western Candaa Ice Racing Championship, Rubber and Ice Class. We actually also support a Fiat ice racer that is powered by a CBR 1100xx engine mounted in the passanger seat.

The pictures and video we have from last week end, I will take some better pictures for you guys at the next race in a couple weeks. If the car is running right, the car actually went into the bank on the second last race of the day on sunday. Since then it seems to be having some fuel problems. If it turns out the engine is hooped the car will likley be crushed which is a shame.
The 95 car our EG actually finished 5th in the first race and 2nd in the second race of the day. Not bad for a car out on its first race week end in a field of around 40 cars.

Yes its Jack's old car. I don't know if you met Brian Sinfield, jack actually gave him the car. He owns the industrial condo that I run my shop out of. We will be up at lac labiche for sure this year so I guess we will see you there
As far as I know Jack isn't planning to run at all this year. But who knows I think the 911 is still around.

Its likley the best way to learn car control, people that ice race usually dominate in the rain. If you look in the gallery that I posted there are actually a couple pictures of 2 spec miatas that came up here from texas to give it a try.

Just click on ice racing 2007. Sadly, unless you all ready hold a WCMA amature race licence its unlikely you will be able to compete this year.

I hope to try it at least once this winter.... because clearly I haven't found enough stupid things to do with my car on LAND
I'll just be in the no-contact, street-legal, unstudded snow tire class.
at this point, the lakes up in the adirondacks are almost frozen enough (about a 3.5 hour drive for me). so maybe this weekend, or the weekend after that.

Wow, you're pretty far north.
I ran in a series called the MIRA Michigan Ice Racing Association:
http://www.michiganiceracingassociation.com
Ran a black eagle talon converted to fwd, which was a bigger class.
It was too rough and tumble for me. The car got pretty torn up bodywise.

Crazy things, this is a 3 wheel CRX.....

If any of you are interested we are keeping a log of our experiances this ice racing season on our forum. It can be found here.

If nothing else it might get some of you guys that have always thought about doing something like this interested enough to join the fun. In all honesty we built our #94 car for less then $1000... I would guess that the total cost for year running one car, including fuel to drive the car to and from the track at under $3000.
