They will also probably rub on your wheel wells and fenders.

a 225/35r19 will work fine on a 98 accord done it many times.. your speedo is only going to be off by 1 mile an hour.. at 60 mph you will be doing 61.09 mph.. and will look much better( that is if you have a stock 195/70r14.. if you have the stock 195/65r15 you will be doing 60.53mph and you are only .22 taller than stock size)
a 235/35r19 will put you .50 taller than stock and would only throw your speedo off by 1mph.. so there are the facts

Not exactly.
235/35-19 is 3 percent larger in diameter than 195/70-14, and 2 percent larger than 195/65-15. So it will throw your speedometer off by that percentage.
But there's no need to go through that. Just get the proper size for your car, which is 215/35-19. That size is only 0.7 percent larger than 195/70-14, and 0.2 percent smaller than 195/65-15. That's why 215/35-19 is the best size for your car.

a 225/35r19 is only .22 inches taller than stock and a 215/35r19 would fit on my civic perfectly. a 225/35r19 is going to work better on your accord and is going to look a lot better as well than a 215/35r19 could. a 225/35r19 has a load rating of 88, your stock size 14 has a load rating of 87, a 15 inch load rating is 91, and the load rating on a 215/35r19 is 85.. which is not good for your vehicle either way... my opinion on that.. do as you may

Why get oversized tires? There are NO advantages, they cost more, they throw off the speedo/odo... it just doesn't make any sense.

I thought we were talking about an Accord here. Would you like help with deciding on tires for your Civic?
Stick with 215/35-19 for the Accord...

225 and 235 fit on that accord all day long as long as you have the right offset wheel and right width... nsxtasy if i needed you help believe me i would ask, but i never will ever have 19's on my car again.. i ran 215/35r19 and a 225/35r19 on my civic without any problems till i lowered it

They will still throw off your speedometer and odometer, and will make your car accelerate slower.
Stick with 215/35-19.

im sorry but why are people saying 235 will effect the speedometer and to go with 215 instead. 235 and 215 declare the width of the tire, and that has nothing to do with the speedometer. the fact that its a 19 inch rim with a 35 series side wall will.
besides that, i dunno what will fit

obviously you do not no what you are talking about.. there is a difference between the overall diameter of OE and the 235/35r19.. the 235/35r19 is a taller tire and wider tire which will throw the speedo off by a 2 mph faster than what he is going .. And the amount of revolutions per mile differ as well which will throw the odometer off as well
i agree, but i dont think you read what i typed correctly. i am not talking about OEM.
why would 235 40 19 throw off the speedo but not 215 40 19. thats what people are implying

because 235/40 is a wider/taller tire then the 215/40.
a lot of plus diameter rim/tire combos will throw off the speedo a little but the goal is mainly to pick the tire that does not throw it off as much so the car will run as close to factory spec as possible.

the 40 is the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the tire's width. as you go wider (235 vs 215), you're increasing the height.

Right. The outer diameter of the tire is the diameter of the wheel plus two times the sidewall height. The sidewall height is the tread width (215 or 235) times the aspect ration (35 percent).
Let's face it, though - 19" wheels have lots of practical and performance downsides for most of our cars (even the NSX). They're heavier, the tires are bigger and heavier and more expensive, they are extremely susceptible to damage from potholes due to their low profile, they make the car accelerate slower, they usually rub on the wheel wells and fenders, etc. If you are willing to live with all those downsides because you like the way they look, well, that's your choice (but I think they look rather silly, too).
