lo, i swapped my old alt out for a re-conditioned unit and now when i turn my cars lights on i get a horrid whine from the alternator area, it sounds exactly like when you get interfearance on a power cable/rca lead for an amp.

NOTHING has been changed on the car at all bar the alt, i have no amp etc and the wires were all connected back up correctly. it makes no noise until the lights are turned on. if i get the car revving to around 2000+ rpm the noise dissapears :?

also my rpms still refuse to raise when the lights are turned on, they just drop 150 rpm from 750ish down to around 550rpm . any ideas as to what checks i can do to find out what is defectiave/faulty ??

as for the light i think its a fuse that happened to my ef but the alternator i have no clue

It's possible that the reman alternator you got isn't in the best shape, you might try exchanging it for another from the place that you purchased it.

As far as the lights and RPMs are concerned, mine do the exact same thing, I never thought that was abnormal..... if it is, I'd sure like to know!

 

sounds like your alternator is weak...see if you can manage to get a brand new one. Usually it won't bog down so much if the alternator is good, it will noticeably but that seems like a little much...just try getting another one
