Default want to know about rim.....

want to know what they mean when they talk about "offset of a rim" and what 4x100, 4x114.3 mean. well i understand what the 4 is for but just wanted to know what 100, 114.3 mean?

the 100 in 4x100 would be 100mm across from the middle of each lug diaganol to the one across. offset would be the amount the rim sits either out ward or inner to the cars body. i have a link that you can read for more description and diagrams on wheel fitment:

4x100 refers to the pattern of the lug nuts. 4 means that there are four lug nuts. 100 means that the circle formed by the centers of the lug nuts is 100 millimeters in diameter. (If you're wondering where an odd number like 114.3 came from, 114.3 millimeters is exactly 4.5 inches.)
