well both shocks are just an OEM replacement item, they are made to work with a stock spring height/rate............ they will NOT last on a lowered car, just try to save your money and get the AGX, they are an awesome shock
I've had my Ground Control + Tokico Illumina setup for about three years now...and i've had no problems with the setup....I actually recommend them....just an advice from somebody who uses them...instead of posting rumors
A good friend of mine has the Tokica N/A on his Accord and likes them though I think the ride is ****. He lowered it 2.5" and in a day or two blew out his OEM shocks (even though I told him to upgrade them at the same time). I rode in it with the blown shocks and the Tokico and could tell little difference. Every road still feels like a rollercoaster though less pronounced. I think most of the problem is the garbage Ractive coilovers and the amount of lowering. Dont compromise quality b/c unless you are installing them yourself, labor is a bitch. Just wait and get the better shocks.

anyway to the original poster.. don't get the Tokico blues.. a couple of my friends thought they were a cheap alternative/performance shocks because he didn't want to shell out $500 for Konis.. so he got Tokico blues and Eibach sportline.. they will blow out in about 2 years/40K miles... I've seen this on a few friends cars... the Tokico blues and KYB GR-2s are OE replacements for use w/ the stock suspension... if your on a budget and want a decent performance shock get the KYB AGX's.. their good shocks and relatively inexpensive (around $80/shock)...

funny thing... i dont hear any of these problems... and i know alot of guys rollin on tokicos. as a matter of fact...i had tokicos on my old car for 3years before i sold it and it still maintained a nice ride.
tokicos are famous for their handling. the only thing is they ride stiffer than kybs. i rather go with kybs because you get a balance of ride quality and handling. i have em on my teg now.

i agree completely, that is the reason for this thread. i have sprint springs (2.5" drop) and am just waiting to get shocks. is it really recommended that i just wait for AGX? cuz i'm on a low budget but don't want to waste time and money on cheap shocks.

With an 2.5 inch drop the agx's will work well. They will probably not live more than 25k miles though. Mine lasted that long when I was dropped about 2.5 inches. Also, kyb does not recommend using them below 1.5 inch drop. They seem to work fine with my sportlines though.
I was debating whether I should spend the extra money to get the AGX over the GR2 (non-adjustables). I was on an extremely tight budget, but at the same time needed to replace my OEM shocks. In the end, I decided to go for the AGX and I have NO regrets. I think of would have regretted it if I had went for the non-adjustables. Coximports.com sells them at a very good price and they have fabulous service. A friend and I installed them on my car so we saved money there. I would suggest you do the same. It is relatively simple, though time consuming (about 4 hours). Btw, having the ability to adjust them is a big plus, more that I orginally thought.
