Driving home the other day my muffler cracked off at the last hanger before the rear control arm. The rest of the exhaust is in pretty bad shape (rusty). So i plan on replacing the entire exhaust.
In the town I have the car registered there is no e-check and probably wont be until this car and myself die. I have an AEM cold air intake and no significant engine mods.
I was wondering which would be the best plan for exhaust replacement for a daily driver which will most likely never see the track, e-check is not a real concern, and follows a reasonable budget, yet performance is always an issue.
I would like to add a header, piping, and muffler but i dont know on this SOHC, what kind of money for what kind of gains is really worth it.
Ive been looking at DC Sports 4-1 and 4-2-1 headers as well as their catback system, GReddy 4-2-1 header and EVO exhaust system, or if i should just buy a header and a muffler and have the mid-piping custom made without a cat.
Would the exhaust gas sensor be adversely affected by the removal of the cat material?
Can anyone recommend/not recommend a setup of header/exhaust or header/muffler?
Oh and has anyone modded their rear bumper to look decent with a dual tip?
If so pics please.
Thanks

i would get the dc header not sure what u want 4-2-1 or 4-1, the 4-1 is better at top and the 4-2-1 is better all around (more bottom end). i would get an apex world sport exhaust or maybe an itr exhaust system. i like it quiet, subtle, and stealthy though.

Thanks for the advice
, and I would have to agree on the subtle exhaust note, everytime i take off and get on it just a little without a muffler i swear everyone is whispering "ricer" under their breath.

On my old Ex I had DC CC 421 header and Greddy EVO catback. What a waste of money! Just made my car louder and the header rattled against the cat. pics at http://www.geocities.com/troy97ex

Thanks again everyone for the input
btw did you feel any more of a kick in the junk when you got on it compared to stock?

sorry to burst ur bubble but I/H/E only adds like 6-7 hp max to the wheels but for a good set-up with not much money id go like the other guy said apex WS catback, new cat, and DC 4-1 header
