Default Sticking E-brake?

my question is, when its cold outside (bellow 32 degrees f) and i release my e-brake the light doesnt go out, it still shows the big red anoying "brake" sign.

it only does it when its at or below 32 out and it goes away after the car is all warmed up.

is this common? or even something i should be worried about?

are you low on brake fluid, or are the brakes dragging?

seems like either the spring on the caliper is sticking, or slowly releasing. Or, possibly the switch at the base of the handel is sticking

when you check your brake fluid level take the top off the reservoir and look at the actual fluid level,; many people are fooled by the 'scum line' they see from the outside.

what haha.

if its full check to see if the brakes are dragging. they might be sticking. also, you could just not use it, i had a jetta and VW said to me, "don't pull the ebrake when its cold, it makes the brakes stick. just leave it in gear."

no luck, the fluid level appears fine, so i think it might just be a stick switch somwhere.

i say this because i was driving home today and the whole way it was not on, i get off the highway and it turns on (ebrake light) so im not sure. i cant imagine its anything big.

i wasnt sure if there was anything to look at but like i said fluid level looks good, and the pads dont appear to be dragging.

the actual switch on the parking lever is just a ground strap, something could have fallen down in there and be grounding the metal tab; you might be able to see it with a strong flashlight looking in the parking brake lever slot.

Scum line on the reservoir can fool ya; it's better to remove the cap and look.
