there are only 2 out. Comptech isnt worth the money. And DC Race eliminates the Cat. Or you can do what I am going to do, is buy the DC and weld in a Cat

Why isn't Comptech worth the money?

The coating cracks? That's the only thing bad about 'em? It's not like you see the header in our cars anyways. I have been hearing about DCRH and exhausts falling apart lately. Welds and even a tip off a muffler. Search on the forum you'll find something. I'd rather have cracked coating than cracked welds if those are my only two choices.

which one?

Comptech-
Stainless Steel, Tig Welded by hand and madrel bent 50 state legal.
Price Tag. But its a quality built product and I've seen them for under 500

DC-
Cheaper, dont know if its Stainless Steel, madrel bends.
Eliminates cat, which in some cases can throw a CEL. Not 50 state legal.

I havent seen any Dynos on either one of these but DC claims to add 10hp.
If it were me I would go Comptech. Superior build quality, better R & D and sold by Honda and Acura dealers. Just my opinion.

Comptech is the same design basically as our stock header and yields very low gains.

Comptech

Here is basically what our OEM header looks like:

OEM

The cat delete is what makes the power on our cars.

My DC header is leaking from the flex pipe. It was fine for about 400+ miles but then it started leaking and my CEL came on due to not enough air going into the 02 sensor. Gotta send it back now.

Search around there are dynos of people getting in the range of 3whp. I know clubrsx has a pretty decent post about it.

Would you want to spend $450.00 on something that gives just alittle more than the stock header? Yea Comptech makes good products, but the shorty is just a step above the OEM one. Untill someone comes out with a 4-2-1 header with the cat on the end, you will never get good gains.

you for got the thumb up about the DC for making significantly more power.
And the fact that most Honda/Acura dealerships that deal with aftermarket support are a supplier of AEM products, hence DC headers

you could buy a DC and mod it with a cat and have a better piece than the comptech for cheaper.

This is correct, unless you have the Comptech Supercharger.

The Comptech header without the supercharger will yield a 5 to 7 gain in whp. With the supercharger you get 10 to 12 whp gain. I got an 11 whp gain when I added it to the supercharger (also have Greddy Evo II exhaust)

As for construction, the Comptech Header is built really well. The bends are less severe then the stock header, the piping "appears" to be slightly larger and the output is near 2 inches larger in diameter then the stock header. The quality of this header is awesome.

If you don't have the supercharger, $500 for a 5 to 7 gain may not be worth it. As for the DC header, I have heard a lot if issues. Causes the CEL to go on, exhaust leaks, and cracked welds.

In my opinion, if I did not have the supercharger, I would have probably gone without a header. Hopefully, Comptech will release a racing header sometime in the near future.

everyone knos that the DC RH yields more power than the comptech, but comptech is a more quality product. the fact that DC has no Catalytic Converter means that there is more airflow and there fore is giving it more power increase. almost everyhonda i know of. at least the ones i know around here...get great increases in power without the cat. my buddies teg took off .4 seconds off his quarter when he put his Bpipe on. which eliminated the cat...

I heard that SSR will be coming out with a RH soon and it should be a good product.

me specifically am prolly gunna go with DC even though i know about the recalls and the problems just due to the fact thats its cheaper and that its proven quality power gains if it works right.

i might be getting a DCRH pretty cheap locally, and if i do im going to contact DC and see if its one of the defective ones and if so send it back to have it fixed. then im probably goin to put a cat on it since im getting it so cheap. if u were buying it brand new (DC that is) and then paying someone to put a cat on it then it would be about the same price for the Comptech header. so its all a matter of opinion. DCRH will void ur warranty if something f's up because of the deletion of the cat. then again... Honda will probably claim the warranty is voided if u put a comptech on there and install it yourself.

Quality= Comptech
Price= DC
Worth it= ???

I have the DCRH. The gains are there but the quality is iffy. If you're lucky enough to get one that isn't defective you should be alright. Although Hondata doesn't recommend you get the reflash if you have the DCRH, cause it causes leaning issues. So it's pretty much hit and miss with DC.

I have the Dc Race Header. I got a lot of gains from it and you'll be surprise and excited about hitting vtec. I have no cat and I use a Check light eliminator. It's a Weapon R brand. It works and never got the engine check light on ever.

I hear pairing the Comptech header with a RandomTech Cat makes pretty decent gains. The cat is on sale tomorrow at stillen.com for one day only, too! http://www.stillen.com/product...ology There is some info on 8thcivic.com about this matchup, too.

I think I am just going to try to wait it out for a quality raceheader, though.
