94 Accord, Exhaust too loud
So I have a 1994 Accord, it had a ricer/bumblebee exhaust on it when I bought it. I couldn't stand the sound, so I switched to a straight pipe into a flowmaster. Removing the cat gave me a mileage increase of 4-5 mpg.
However, the straight pipe and flowmaster are much too loud, making it only slightly less obnoxious then the can that was on there before.
Does anyone know of a good stainless cat-back system, or maybe just a muffler, for a 94-97 that will give me quieter exhaust tone? I'm not a fan of the mad bumblebee sound, just want something low and smooth. Thanks.

Install a hi-flo cat too! loose a little hp/gas milage but have a better sounding car, btw what chamber/series of flowmasted do you have? that may also be the cause of some of the loud bumblebee sound

Thanks everyone, I think I'll try a resonator, and if that fails to improve things, I'll probably just get a catback system. Any brand recommendations for good sound quality?
With stock cat, I have, Megan Racing. I highly recommend it, Not too loud, but it does have a decently loud deep tone to it.
.Comes with resonator in the system, so throughout the RPM's It does not get that whiney sound like you mentioned before. If you don't want that whiney sound, I guarantee it is because you took out your cat. I have a friend that has a 95 civic, he had a header, cat-back exhaust, and stock cat. Thing sounded great and deep. Took out the cat and replaced it with one of those test pipe things, and it sounds like a bumble bee, and a lot whinier. Plus without a cat, you're just polluting.

Yup, get a resonator. It should tone down the sound.
If you're not contented, change muffler. Or, for some mufflers, they have this "silencer" which reduces the loud sound.

I HIGHLY recommend purchasing a APEXI World Sport cat-back. You won't regret it, I promise. I have it on my 96 Accord. Its looks very classy, yet a fun and sporty exhaust. It's just like stock until you get on the throttle and even then, it's still not loud. It gives of a deep, throaty purr instead of the "mad bee in the can" sound. If intersted, visit weaksauce.org and get yourself one.
I have the Megan Exhuast with a hi flo cat and no resn. and let me tell ya it sounds good but alittle to loud. Like if start it near a high end car or a car with a high end alarm it goes off everytime. I'm thinking bout taking it off and just putting the stock back on. Altought the ANSA sport look nice too
