Default engine growling noise

I'm not sure if this has been posted but I have noticed my engine will make this strange growling noise at around 1300-2000 rpm, mostly when im going up a hill. Its an auto and I've noticed my old cr-v does the same thing all the time. Not sure if this happens to a lot of Hondas and was kinda disappointed to hear it on my 06. it only has about 4,000 miles on it. Any help would be great.

The weird part is it doesn’t do it all the time. If I had to say where the noise was coming from I’d say on the driver’s side half of the engine, but when it starts growling it’s hard to tell. It sounds like a vibration that will last only in that rpm range and goes away when I get on the gas.

Mention it to the Honda techs the next time you are in for service, or check yourself to make sure that everything is bolted down tightly that is supposed to be bolted down. It kinda sounds like something is vibrating at those RPMs against something else. The common one is having an aftermarket intake vibrating against various under hood bits. So check that if you have an aftermarket intake.

mine does it also but its an 07. i think its from being too low in the rpm for the taller gear, and the engine cant make the required power to accelerate so it just boggs and shakes untill you reach around 2000 where it can do some good.
