Default TPS ???

My brother have a 97 civic ex that has a check engine light. The code is 7 which is the tps sensor. So i took the tps out of the throttle body. The gasket from the tps is torn. Could it be the gasket or could it still be the tps sensor?

the TPS supplies a voltage to the ECU via turning the sensor. the gasket has nothing to do with the reading or the CEL.
be sure to replace the gasket.
