OK don't flame me, i think this might be the most stupid question i every easked on H-T, i have had several race cars that we made dashes for and i tried wiring a check engine light bulb with a normal 12v bulb(small one) and today we tried a skull and cross bones light up washer sprayer, the eyes light up!!. we wanted to use this as a check engine bulb on this race car and just like other ones i have tried the bulb is always on dim but bright when the the check light bulb should be on. i hope someone with better electronic knowledge could help me. I haev a decent amount of knowledge about electronics but can't seem to get it??????

UPDATE: i used a relay and it works great.
