Default Replaced D16y6 with ZC on 91 Civic Si, 5th gear now running at 3k-rpm at 60mph

Is it normal for my RPM's to be this high with the ZC engine swap? With the D16y6 it was running 80mph at 3k rpms.

Thanks

LOL! The engine will not making the GEARING in the transmission different. What transmission are you using? If it was the same transmission for both I'd say your speedo cable isn't installed properly.

I'm using the stock tranny on the 91 Si. I'll check the speedo cable and see if that fixes it. What happened is I ordered a 1.6 and they sent me the ZC for the same price. I just changed everything over from my 1.6 and so far that is only problem I have noticed. Are there other ZC parts I should consider replacing to improve it?

Dude, your Y8 was not doing 3K at 80mph on the Si transmission, maybe 3750RPM, but not 3000.

My stock Si is at 4000rpm at 80mph so 3000 at 60 is about right.

Thanks man! You made me feel better about it now. I thought I would blow the tranny if I didn't do something quickly

is that not the 1.6 engine code? Alright maybe I mispelled it a little. I'm definetely becoming a real member as of today. This was my trial basis and all of you have done a good job with the info!

Any suggestions to improve on my 91 Civic Si? The only thing not stock at this point is the ZC engine.

Save your money and plan accordingly. You live in CA and the REF is not your friend, and neither is CHP.

Thats for sure!!! CHP hates us and the REF can be quite a pain in the a$$ too! Make sure your exhaust is not too loud, and dont tint your front windows, and dont run an intake without a CARB sticker on it or you'll be SCREWED!!!
