Default poormans type-r build first buildfor me

hey wats goin on. im build a poormans type-r. i have a b17 block with ctr pistons balnced rods and crank all new bearings and rings. im puttinf my b16 head on that with full omni power valvetrain with ctrs cams or s2s2 cams undecide on them. but the compression is gunna be around 12.5-1. and the closest tuning place is like an hr and a half from me will i be alrite to drive it that far wit out it being tuned properly and should i go with the stock timing settings or wat im having my p28 ecu reprogrammed for my setup will that be good enough to get me to the tuning shop. ok well any help is appreciated thanks peaxe

yea you should be ok i think 12.5 is almost over the edge just make sure its 91 oct and up

"Poorman's R" is a B18C1 GSR block not the B17 block. You're basically making a another B17 setup...

If everything is fresh, I would NOT drive an hour and a half with nothing. At the minimum get a basemap chip, even that is not full proof that you won't ruin your rings.

Better yet, just tow your car to the dyno and break it in.

ok my bad its not a poormans type-r lol. but any suggestions on the timing if it should be retar or wat and even if i have the ecu programmed/tuned for my setu it wont be good enough to dive an hr or so? thanks everyone

set the timing at the distributor at the stock 16*btdc. if you have a basemap you can use that to gingerly drive to your tuner. if that's not possible have it towed there.

Would you rather pay to have it towed? Or would you rather pay to have it towed AND pay for new engine parts. If you end up getting a shitty ebay basemap and you get half-way there and your engine starts to take a dump on you, not only will you have to get a tow anyways, but you may have possibly damaged your new engine.

At least see if you can get a half-decent a/f. Know anyone close to you with a wideband?
